United Response is seeking a Positive Behaviour Support Practitioner to join our Health and Wellbeing Team. Do you have the knowledge and experience to support our operational colleagues to embed and promote Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) across our services, including those within the Transforming Care agenda? The PBS team operates an internal referral system through which caseloads are allocated. The successful candidate will work across the geographical area specified and manage a caseload of individuals referred through this system. The role includes conducting functional assessments and leading the development, implementation, and evaluation of PBS plans to enhance quality of life. Additionally, the postholder will promote accessible PBS practices, build the competence of support teams, and deliver training, workshops, and debrief sessions. The individual will also contribute to the wider responsibilities of PBS practice across the organisation.
Responsibilities
- Manage caseload of individuals referred through the PBS internal referral system.
- Conduct functional assessments and lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of PBS plans.
- Promote accessible PBS practices within services.
- Build the competence of support teams through training, workshops, and debrief sessions.
- Contribute to wider PBS practice responsibilities across the organisation.
Qualifications
- Legal right to work in the UK and reside in the United Kingdom.
- Formal PBS-related qualification (e.g., BTEC Diploma in PBS, BSc in Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, MSc Applied Behaviour Analysis or Positive Behaviour Support).
- Experience supporting people with Learning Disabilities and/or Autism within adult social care settings who display behaviours of concern.
- Experience completing behavioural assessments within a PBS framework and reducing the use of restrictive practices.
- Strong knowledge of PBS principles and related evidence-based approaches such as Active Support, Person-Centred Planning, and Total Communication.
- Experience working with multi-disciplinary teams and communicating effectively with colleagues and external professionals.
- Ability to work independently and manage caseloads through clear advice and guidance.
- Experience delivering training, facilitating practice, coaching teams, or leading debriefs.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Willingness to travel nationally.
- Desirable: Certification as a UKBA or UKiBA or willingness to work towards certification.
