This position is all about building relationships with the people you will be supporting while helping them with their day-to-day routine in line with their personal support plans such as dressing, personal care, finances, medication, attending any appointments along with employment, volunteering and hobbies.
We require you to hold a full, clean, UK driving licence.
Who will you be supporting?
We are looking for a support worker to support adults living in a complex of flats, who have sensory impairment and complex needs. The service maintains person-centred rotas, so the post is for someone who enjoys a challenge and is eager to make a difference to the people we support.
This is a role with a high degree of responsibility which is really varied, sometimes challenging and often fun. The job involves encouraging and supporting the people we support to live as independently as possible, make their own choices and do the things they enjoy.
In post you will be required to:
- Take responsibility for good communication.
- Maintain accurate records of the support you deliver.
- Help maintain and check the accuracy of the financial records of the people we support as needed.
- Undertake at least one sleep-in duty a week.
- Undertake any training and, if new to social care, complete the Care Certificate within the probationary period.
- Have a recognised qualification in BSL is desirable, but not essential. But you will have the opportunity to gain a qualification in signing.
