Overview

A full UK driving licence is essential for this role.

United Response is a leading national charity supporting young people and adults with learning disabilities, autism, mental health needs and other barriers to employment.

We believe everyone should have equal access to opportunities and the support they need to achieve their potential.

This role is part of the newly established Julia Rausing Trust‑funded project and involves working with individuals, employers and community organisations to create sustainable employment, training and internship opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver tailored one‑to‑one employability support, helping individuals identify their strengths, aspirations and pathways into work.
  • Build vocational profiles and develop personalised action plans.
  • Support individuals to access volunteering, training, work experience, supported internships and paid employment.
  • Deliver community outreach activities including presentations, drop‑in sessions, career fairs, networking events and partnership meetings.
  • Develop and maintain referral pathways with community organisations, education providers, youth services and other local partners.
  • Build relationships with employers to identify opportunities and support inclusive recruitment.
  • Use job coaching techniques to help individuals build confidence, independence and workplace skills.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across a range of employment programmes to achieve positive outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate records and deliver services in line with quality standards, including OFSTED, the Matrix Standard and Supported Employment best practice.

Qualifications & Experience Required

  • Experience supporting people with learning disabilities, autism, mental health needs or other barriers to employment.
  • Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills.
  • Strong organisational, IT and time‑management skills.
  • A proactive and flexible approach to community‑based working.
  • The ability to work independently whilst contributing positively to a wider team.
  • A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle, with the ability to travel throughout Manchester and the surrounding areas.
  • Preferred Skills & Experience
  • Experience of employer engagement or business development.
  • Knowledge of supported employment or supported internships.
  • Job coach training or a relevant teaching qualification (AET, PTLLS, Cert Ed or equivalent).
  • Knowledge of apprenticeships, Access to Work or other employment support programmes.
  • Support & Development
  • Both formal and on‑the‑job training, with access to national specialists who offer expert guidance on best practice, inclusion, quality and health and safety.
  • Full induction and ongoing support from an experienced and welcoming team.
  • Passionate commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and adults at risk, with appropriate vetting procedures and DBS checks.
