Help People Live the Life They Choose.

Are you an experienced support worker ready to take the next step in your career? Do you want leadership experience that actually paves the way to becoming a Registered Manager in the future?

At United Response, we are looking for a Senior Support Worker / Team Leader to join our services in South Tyneside. In this hands-on leadership role, you’ll work alongside our Registered Manager to guide a dedicated staff team, ensure high standards of care, and help people with learning disabilities, autism, and mental health needs live independent, fulfilling lives.

This is the ideal stepping stone for someone looking to move into social care management with full training, mentoring, and support every step of the way.

About the Role

You will balance hands-on support (30 hours on rota) with dedicated leadership and development time (7.5 hours off-rota) to help oversee the smooth day-to-day running of the service.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering high-quality, person-centred support on shift as a positive role model
  • Leading, supervising, and mentoring support worker team members
  • Supporting rota planning, shift handovers, and day-to-day operations
  • Assisting with safeguarding, risk management, and CQC compliance standards
  • Building positive relationships with families, professionals, and stakeholders
  • Participating in an on-call rota

What We’re Looking For

We want someone who brings compassion, frontline experience, and a genuine drive to develop their leadership skills.

You’ll ideally have:

  • Experience supporting people with learning disabilities, autism, and/or mental health needs
  • A natural ability to lead, coach, or supervise others on shift
  • A solid understanding of safeguarding and safe working practices
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Flexibility to participate in an on-call rota and travel between locations when required
  • Essential Qualification: NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care (or equivalent), or a commitment to working towards it.

Don’t meet every single requirement? If you share our values and have strong frontline experience, we still want to hear from you—we love investing in our people!

What We Offer

  • Comprehensive induction and fully funded, nationally recognised leadership qualifications
  • Enhanced company sick pay and maternity/paternity pay
  • Blue Light Card discounts and Costco membership (T&Cs apply)
  • Free occupational health, physiotherapy, counselling, and wellbeing support
  • Two dedicated wellbeing days per year
  • Generous annual leave entitlement and workplace pension scheme
  • UR STARS employee recognition programme and long service awards
  • Travel to Work scheme (season ticket loan) and retail discounts from over 3,500 brands
