United Response is looking for a motivated and supportive Learning and Skills Tutor to join our Skills, Wellbeing and Enterprise service in York and North Yorkshire. You will deliver personalised, engaging and inclusive learning programmes for young people aged 16-25 with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
Working closely with colleagues, employers and partner organisations, you will support learners to develop independence, confidence and essential life skills while embedding English, Maths and ICT. This is not a term-time position; however, Learning and Skills Tutors are expected to take annual leave during out-of-term periods unless agreed by management.
Your role will include:
- Planning and delivering creative learning sessions across classroom, workplace and community settings.
- Assessing learner progress, setting realistic targets and maintaining accurate records in line with safeguarding, Ofsted and funding requirements.
- Using person-centred teaching approaches, providing regular feedback, encouraging attendance and engagement, and adapting learning to meet individual needs.
- Embedding English, Maths and ICT within learning activities.
- Collaborating with colleagues, employers and partner organisations to support learner independence, confidence and essential life skills.
- Staying current with learning topics such as Life Skills, Personal Development, Creative and Digital Media, Digital Skills and Technology, and Practical and Vocational Skills.
Qualifications:
- Relevant teaching qualification (7307/PTLLS/AET/Cert Ed).
- Minimum Level 2 qualifications in English and Maths.
- Level 2 ICT (or equivalent competence).
- A higher-level teaching qualification and experience of post-16 SEND provision or Ofsted requirements would be an advantage.
