The predicted salary is between 13000 - 16000 £ per year.
Hours and Schedule
22.5 hours per week and 15 hours per week (Monday, Tuesday & Friday – term time only 44.6 weeks) with possible optional additional hours on an ad-hoc basis on usual non‑working days. Mileage is paid at 0.45p per mile between base and supported work placement. Full driving licence, own car and willingness to travel across Cornwall is essential.
Role Overview
The Job Coach will support young people in realising their aspirations to participate in work‑related activities, and facilitate individuals’ progression into paid work through volunteering, education and training, work experience and other routes. The post will primarily be based at our Tolvaddon location and also in the community supporting learners on work placements.
Responsibilities
- Build positive relationships with the young person to promote interaction and a constructive learning environment.
- Work flexibly across all key stages, working with individuals on a 1:1 basis or in very small groups under the direction of the Employability Tutor.
- Follow a bespoke timetable and support learners in progressing to paid work, volunteering, education and training opportunities.
- Work independently and take proactive initiative, able to manage workload with limited direct supervision.
- Engage with challenging young people, helping them develop through excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Qualifications
- Self‑starter with confidence and initiative, comfortable working on a one‑to‑one basis.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, able to work with challenging young people.
- Full driving licence, own car and willingness to travel across Cornwall.
- Experience or interest in supporting young people with special educational needs and/or mental health needs is desirable.
