About the Role

United Response is seeking a dynamic Head of Assets and Development to lead the strategic management of our housing assets and oversee the delivery of our housing development programme.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced property and housing professional to make a lasting impact in a national charity that provides housing and support for people with learning disabilities, autism, and mental health needs.

You will ensure our property portfolio is safe, compliant, efficient, and financially sustainable, while driving new build and acquisition projects to expand our housing provision. The successful candidate will combine strategic leadership with hands‑on delivery, ensuring excellence across asset management, property compliance, maintenance, and housing development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the asset management strategy for all United Response housing stock.
  • Oversee housing development projects, including new builds, refurbishments, and acquisitions.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance, health and safety, and property standards are consistently met.
  • Manage capital investment planning, maintenance budgets, and lifecycle costing.
  • Build and maintain strong partnerships with local authorities, housing associations, developers, and contractors.
  • Drive innovation in property sustainability, energy efficiency, and asset performance.
  • Provide strategic advice to the executive team on housing growth and investment opportunities.

About You

You will have:

  • Proven senior experience in asset management and property development.
  • A strong track record in housing associations, local government, or charitable organisations.
  • Excellent leadership, financial management, and project delivery skills.
  • Knowledge of building safety regulations, housing compliance, and property maintenance.
  • The ability to influence at a senior level and drive organisational change.
