Role Description
The Pump Technician role in Bathgate is a full-time, position responsible for the inspection, maintenance, repair, and testing of a range of pump equipment used in fluid management applications. In this role, the technician will diagnose mechanical and electrical issues, perform routine servicing, and ensure equipment is prepared to high safety and quality standards before delivery to customers. Daily tasks include assembling and configuring pump systems, conducting functional checks, documenting work performed, and maintaining accurate records in accordance with company procedures. The Pump Technician will support field operations by advising on pump selection, setup, and operation, and may assist with on-site installation or troubleshooting when required. Collaboration with colleagues in the workshop and operations teams, adherence to safety protocols, and clear communication with internal stakeholders are key components of the role.
Qualifications
- Technical skills in mechanical maintenance, diesel and electrical systems relevant to pumps and associated equipment.
- Ability to diagnose faults, perform repairs, and carry out preventive maintenance using appropriate tools and test equipment.
- Strong focus on safety, including understanding of safe systems of work, risk assessments, and adherence to company and regulatory standards.
- Organisational skills for maintaining service records, managing workloads, and prioritising tasks in a busy workshop environment.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate with operations staff and support customer-facing colleagues.
- Previous experience in pump service, industrial equipment maintenance, or a similar engineering/technician role is highly beneficial.
- Relevant vocational or technical qualification in engineering, mechanics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Ability to work on-site in Bathgate, with flexibility to support field work or travel if required.
