HOURS OF WORK

Your normal hours of work are 24 hours per week, worked as two 12-hour shifts each weekend on a rotating pattern.

Weekend Shift 1 (Nights)

  • Friday 10:00pm to Saturday 10:00am
  • Saturday 10:00pm to Sunday 10:00am

Weekend Shift 2 (Days)

  • Saturday 10:00am to 10:00pm

Employees will rotate between Shift 1 and Shift 2 on alternate weekends, working nights one weekend and days the next weekend.

Basic Function

To safely operate forklift trucks and support the efficient movement of raw materials, work in progress, and finished goods across the dry petfood manufacturing site.

The role also provides operational support to raw material intake, bulk tipping operations, extrusion processing, and automated packing lines, ensuring production targets, quality standards, and safety requirements are achieved.

Hours of Work

  • Forklift Operations
  • Operate forklift trucks safely and efficiently.
  • Load and unload vehicles.
  • Move raw materials, packaging, and finished products around site.
  • Carry out daily forklift checks and report any issues.
  • Raw Material Intake & Tipping
  • Receive and unload raw material deliveries.
  • Support tipping and transfer of materials into production.
  • Check materials are correct and stored in the right locations.
  • Maintain good housekeeping standards in intake areas.
  • Extruder Support
  • Supply raw materials to extrusion lines.
  • Assist with product changeovers and line cleaning.
  • Help ensure production runs smoothly without interruptions.
  • Report any operational issues to supervisors.
  • Packing Line Support
  • Supply packaging materials to automated packing lines.
  • Remove finished products from lines and place in storage areas.
  • Assist with line changeovers and routine operational checks.
  • Keep packing areas clean, organised, and running efficiently.
  • Health, Safety & Quality
  • Follow all site safety, quality, and food safety procedures.
  • Wear required PPE at all times.
  • Report hazards, near misses, quality concerns, and equipment issues.
  • Help maintain high housekeeping standards across the site.
  • Teamwork & Flexibility
  • Work closely with production, warehouse, quality, and engineering teams.
  • Support different operational areas as required.
  • Participate in training and continuous improvement activities.
  • Carry out other reasonable duties as requested by management.
  • Compliance
  • Follow health and safety policy and procedures, leading by example contributing to a positive safety culture.
  • Maintain high standards of quality and GMP throughout the preparation process.
  • Comply with company’s policies and vision.
  • Reduce waste within the prep area of filling.
  • Adhere to all packaging, material handling and labelling legislation requirements
  • Produce safe, quality products as required to meet the production plan.
  • Ensure that all completed production paperwork and documentation is correctly, clearly and accurately completed.
  • Remove any defective products or materials, ensure they are clearly labelled and reported to the Team Leader, Department Manager and Technical.
  • Ensure that you only operate equipment, including forklifts, that you have been trained and signed off to use in accordance with SOP training data

Additional Responsibilities

  • In common with all other personnel within United Pet Foods, the Job Holder is required to adhere to the Company’s policies on Safety, Hygiene and good housekeeping. Specifically:
  • To take reasonable care for the health and safety of himself/herself and that of other persons who may be affected by his/her acts or omissions;
  • To co-operate regarding any duty or requirement imposed on the company, or on any individual by or under any of the relevant statutory provisions, so far as is necessary, to enable that duty or requirement to be performed or complied with;
  • To report to his/her immediate manager any hazard which may be discovered at, or in the vicinity of, the place of work.
  • To safeguard the quality, legality and safety of the product at all times.

  • Maintaining H&S and hygiene standards in accordance with Company rules and regulations.
  • Ensuring that all staff and visitors in the department always wear appropriate PPE.
