UPS is seeking a skilled and experienced Ground Support Equipment (GSE) Mechanic to join the team at East Midlands Airport. This is an airside role, working in a well-equipped workshop environment, supporting critical airport operations. You’ll play a key role as a senior mechanic, maintaining and repairing essential equipment used in aircraft handling and operations.

What You’ll Need
- Level 3 qualification in HGV Mechanics (or equivalent)
- Proven experience as a mechanic (GSE or heavy vehicles preferred)
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems
- Experience diagnosing and repairing complex equipment faults
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics
- Full, clean driving licence
- Ability to obtain airport security clearance
- Strong attention to detail and a safety-first mindset
- Comfortable working both independently and within a small team
Desirable:
- Previous experience in an airport environment (ideally EMA)
- 2–3 years of relevant experience in a similar role
What You’ll Do
- Carry out inspections, preventative maintenance, and repairs on GSE
- Work on equipment such as deck loaders, cargo tractors, air start units, and ground power units
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults
- Perform scheduled servicing (fluid changes, filters, adjustments, etc.)
- Overhaul and rebuild engines, transmissions, and major components
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation
- Collaborate with the team to prioritise and complete repairs efficiently
- Ensure workshop cleanliness, organisation, and safety standards are met
- Stay up to date with industry regulations and technical developments
- Communicate effectively with colleagues, supervisors, and suppliers
