UPS is seeking a skilled and experienced Ground Support Equipment (GSE) Mechanic to join the team at East Midlands Airport. This is an airside role, working in a well-equipped workshop environment, supporting critical airport operations. You’ll play a key role as a senior mechanic, maintaining and repairing essential equipment used in aircraft handling and operations.

What You’ll Need

  • Level 3 qualification in HGV Mechanics (or equivalent)
  • Proven experience as a mechanic (GSE or heavy vehicles preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems
  • Experience diagnosing and repairing complex equipment faults
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics
  • Full, clean driving licence
  • Ability to obtain airport security clearance
  • Strong attention to detail and a safety-first mindset
  • Comfortable working both independently and within a small team

Desirable:

  • Previous experience in an airport environment (ideally EMA)
  • 2–3 years of relevant experience in a similar role

What You’ll Do

  • Carry out inspections, preventative maintenance, and repairs on GSE
  • Work on equipment such as deck loaders, cargo tractors, air start units, and ground power units
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults
  • Perform scheduled servicing (fluid changes, filters, adjustments, etc.)
  • Overhaul and rebuild engines, transmissions, and major components
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation
  • Collaborate with the team to prioritise and complete repairs efficiently
  • Ensure workshop cleanliness, organisation, and safety standards are met
  • Stay up to date with industry regulations and technical developments
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues, supervisors, and suppliers
