The Airfreight Operator is responsible for coordinating and managing air freight shipments from origin to destination. The role ensures that cargo is handled efficiently, documentation is accurate, and shipments comply with airline, customs, and UK regulatory requirements while meeting customer service expectations.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate import and export air freight shipments from booking to final delivery
- Liaise with airlines, ground handlers, hauliers, overseas agents, and customers
- Prepare and process air freight documentation including AWBs, manifests, invoices, and packing lists
- Ensure shipments comply with customs, security, and aviation regulations
- Track shipments and provide regular updates to customers
- Handle rate enquiries, quotations, and booking confirmations
- Arrange collections, deliveries, and airport transfers
- Resolve operational issues such as delays, discrepancies, or damaged cargo
- Maintain accurate records within freight management systems
- Ensure all work complies with company procedures and UK health & safety standards
