We are seeking a commercially minded, process- and project-driven leader to evolve and scale our underwriting capability across our International Region (Europe, Asia, and the Americas). This is not a traditional underwriting role, but a platform leadership position sitting at the intersection of underwriting expertise, operational excellence, systems and digital delivery, policy administration, and compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Own and continuously improve submission‑to‑bind, policy administration and compliance workflows across Europe.
  • Drive efficiency, standardisation, and scalability of underwriting processes.
  • Identify bottlenecks and implement structured process improvements.
  • Lead the development and optimisation of underwriting platforms, workflow tools, data flows and reporting infrastructure.
  • Lead cross‑functional transformation projects across operations, underwriting, and customer experience.
  • Deliver initiatives aligned to growth, efficiency, and customer experience.
  • Implement structured change management and measurable outcomes.
  • Contribute to underwriting decisions on complex cargo risks.
  • Ensure alignment between risk appetite, pricing discipline, and operational execution.
  • Support profitable portfolio growth through balanced commercial judgement.
  • Improve turnaround times and conversion, enable scalable growth, and balance risk with commercial opportunity.
  • Lead and develop a high‑performing underwriting operations team.
  • Build a culture focused on execution excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Experience in underwriting operations, process design, or transformation.
  • Strong project management and change capability.
  • Experience with systems, workflows, and digital tools.
  • Commercial awareness and strong cross‑functional collaboration skills.

Preferred

  • Marine/Cargo insurance experience.
  • Exposure to MGA, Lloyd's, or transformation environments.
  • ACII or equivalent qualifications.

Salary & Benefits

  • Annual salary in the region of £65,000.
