United Offshore Support GmbH (UOS) is a leading global operator of sophisticated offshore support vessels specializing in the technical, crew and commercial management of high-powered anchor handling tug/supply (AHTS) vessels, large platform supply vessels (PSVs) and subsea vessels working in the offshore energy industry worldwide. We are actively looking for a Technical Superintendent to join our Team!

This is a hybrid role, offering a combination of remote and in-office work, based out of one of our office locations in either Leer, Germany or Aberdeen, UK. We will also consider candidates within Europe with availability to frequently visit our offices.

The purpose of the Technical Superintendent role is to ensure that assigned vessels are maintained and operated safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with all applicable regulations and client expectations. This includes managing technical support, planning maintenance and repairs, and supporting the crew with operational needs.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the highest safety, environmental and operational standards across nominated vessels.
  • Deliver optimal vessel performance and reliability with minimal downtime.
  • Ensure that nominated vessels are managed and maintained in line with Class, Flag and Company requirements.
  • Manage the vessel maintenance and repair programs including dry-dock planning.
  • Maintain CMMS accuracy and ensure accuracy in reporting for assigned vessels.
  • Ensure defective conditions are identified, monitored and closed out in a timely manner.
  • Deliver technical support and root cause analysis for defects and breakdowns.
  • Robust adherence to the Business Management System ensuring all assigned vessels are managed in line with the procedures detailed.
  • Measures Chief Engineers overall performance in terms of KPI’s measured against maintenance system, planning for work in advance, maintaining of agreed spares stock levels, reporting of defects and maintenance done on board. Assesses and write annual assessments.
  • Participates in the interviewing and selection of engine room candidates including 3rd, 2nd and Chief Engineers.
  • Undertake the diligent technical management and be the technical focal point for assigned vessels.
  • In conjunction with the Operational Excellence department, coordinate with Class and Flag to ensure survey and inspection are completed in line with required frequencies.
  • Closure of audit findings and recommendations raised against assigned vessels.
  • Ensure that the assigned vessels are maintained in accordance with the CMMS and that maintenance backlog is minimized.
  • Undertake regular vessel visits to meet with the crews and undertake detailed technical and maintenance system audits, reporting on the condition of the vessel and compliance against the UOS standards. (A minimum of two visits per year with no more than seven months apart in any 12-month period is required)

Qualifications

  • Degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, Nautical Science
  • Seagoing experience in a senior technical position on offshore support vessels
  • 3+ years of shore-based technical superintendent experience
  • Availability to undertake international travel when required
  • Strong knowledge of vessel systems, maintenance, and repair procedures
  • Solid understanding of ISM, Class, and Flag requirements
  • Experience in dry-dock planning and execution
  • Strong organizational and budget management skills
  • Proficiency with CMMS, reporting tools, and Microsoft Office
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively in a fast-paced operational environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English. German is a great plus
