We are actively looking for a highly skilled and detail-oriented Crew Payroll Specialist to join our Team! The Crew Payroll Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of all payroll processes within our crewing operations. This role is responsible for the end-to-end processing, monitoring, and control of payroll and related expenses for seafarers across the fleet.
Main Responsibilities
- Calculate and process payroll for sea personnel in accordance with applicable regulations
- Prepare and distribute payslips and handle all wage-related matters
- Generate employment contracts, confirmations, and testimonials for seafarers
- Monitor and process travel expenses and additional crew-related costs (e.g. medical tests, re-bookings)
- Liaise and interact with insurance providers and German/international authorities regarding seafarers
- Prepare reports, statistics, and payroll data for budgeting and management purposes
- Support the review and updating of wage scales, including benchmarking activities
- Ensure compliance with German labor law, social security regulations, and international maritime frameworks (e.g. MLC, STCW)
- Assist the crewing department with administrative tasks and coordination of crew-related activities
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of payroll processes and internal procedures
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Payroll Administration, or a comparable qualification
- 3–5 years of relevant experience, ideally within an international shipping company
- Solid experience in payroll processing and German labor law
- Familiarity with international maritime regulations (MLC, STCW)
- High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and reliability
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Proactive, structured, and solution-oriented working style
- Experience working in a multinational and multicultural environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Fluency in German and English
