THE OPPORTUNITY

The Head of Operations will play a pivotal leadership role in ensuring the efficient and effective operation of the business, providing the infrastructure, processes and support required for every department to perform at its highest level.

Working in close partnership with the senior leadership team and departmental heads, the successful candidate will lead all operational functions, including logistics, shipping, warehousing, inventory management, systems and IT, retail operations, and facilities. They will drive operational excellence, improve processes, enhance cross-functional collaboration, and ensure the business operates with consistency, efficiency and control.

This is a highly visible leadership position that combines strategic thinking with hands‑on execution. The successful candidate will be instrumental in strengthening the Group's operational foundations, implementing scalable systems and best practices, and building the platform required to support ambitious long‑term growth across multiple brands, channels and international markets.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

General Leadership

  • Lead and oversee all operational activities across the Group, ensuring the business operates efficiently, consistently and to the highest standards across all markets.
  • Develop and implement operational strategies that support the Group's commercial objectives and long‑term growth plans.
  • Work closely with the Managing Director and departmental heads to ensure operational priorities are aligned with business needs and strategic initiatives.
  • Build, develop and mentor a high‑performing Operations team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Establish clear operational KPIs, monitor performance and proactively identify opportunities to improve efficiency, service levels and profitability.
  • Drive operational excellence by continually reviewing processes, implementing best practices and embedding scalable ways of working across the organisation.
  • Together with the Finance Director, prepare, manage and control the Operations budget, ensuring effective cost management without compromising service quality.
  • Ensure appropriate operational policies, procedures and controls are maintained across the business.

Logistics

  • Take overall responsibility for all logistics operations across the Group, ensuring the timely and cost‑effective movement of goods globally.
  • Develop strong relationships with logistics partners and negotiate competitive commercial terms and service level agreements.
  • Monitor logistics performance, identifying opportunities to improve transit times, reduce costs and enhance customer service.
  • Ensure all logistics activities comply with international trade regulations, customs requirements and relevant import/export legislation.
  • Manage freight planning across air, sea and road transport to optimise cost, speed and operational efficiency.

Shipping

  • Oversee all inbound and outbound shipping activities from factories through to warehouses, wholesale customers, retail stores and ecommerce customers.
  • Work closely with Production, Merchandising and Sales teams to ensure shipments are planned and delivered within seasonal deadlines.
  • Monitor shipment schedules, proactively resolving delays and minimising disruption to customers and retail operations.
  • Manage relationships with freight forwarders, customs brokers and shipping partners to ensure reliable and efficient service.
  • Continuously review shipping methods and costs to improve efficiency and maximise margin.

Warehousing & Inventory

  • Lead all warehouse operations, including both third‑party logistics providers (3PL) and any in‑house facilities.
  • Ensure efficient receiving, storage, stock handling, replenishment and dispatch of inventory.
  • Take ownership of inventory management across the Group, maintaining high levels of stock accuracy through robust controls and regular stock counts.
  • Oversee stock movements between factories, warehouses, retail stores, wholesale customers and ecommerce operations.
  • Develop procedures for managing aged inventory, stock transfers, markdowns and end‑of‑season stock clearance.
  • Ensure warehouse operations meet agreed service levels for wholesale, retail and ecommerce fulfilment.

Retail Operations

  • Provide operational leadership and support for all retail locations across the Group.
  • Coordinate the successful opening, operation and closure of permanent and seasonal retail stores.
  • Ensure stores receive products, fixtures, equipment, POS materials and operational support in line with trading requirements.
  • Develop and maintain retail operating procedures to ensure consistency across all locations.
  • Support store teams with stock management, inventory accuracy and operational best practice.
  • Work closely with Retail, VM and Marketing teams to deliver exceptional customer experiences.

Ecommerce Operations & Customer Service

  • Oversee the fulfilment of all ecommerce orders, ensuring accurate pick, pack and dispatch processes.
  • Monitor delivery performance and customer satisfaction, ensuring service levels remain consistently high.
  • Manage returns and reverse logistics processes to maximise efficiency and customer experience.
  • Oversee the customer service function, ensuring enquiries are handled professionally and resolved promptly.
  • Work closely with the Ecommerce team to improve operational performance and customer experience.

Systems & IT

  • Take ownership of the Group's operational systems and IT infrastructure, ensuring they effectively support business growth.
  • Manage and continually improve ERP, inventory management, warehouse management, POS and ecommerce systems.
  • Identify opportunities to automate manual processes and improve operational efficiency through technology.
  • Work with external technology partners and internal stakeholders to deliver system enhancements and new implementations.
  • Ensure appropriate data integrity, system security and business continuity processes are maintained.
  • Support the ongoing development and optimisation of reporting, dashboards and operational analytics.

Facilities

  • Oversee the management and maintenance of all offices, warehouses and retail facilities.
  • Ensure all locations operate safely, efficiently and in compliance with relevant health and safety legislation.
  • Coordinate office moves, fit‑outs, refurbishments and maintenance projects where required.
  • Manage relationships with landlords, contractors and facilities service providers.
  • Ensure appropriate security, utilities and workplace services are maintained across all locations.
  • Support the operational set‑up and dismantling of temporary and seasonal retail location.

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Minimum 6 years' experience in operational roles within luxury fashion, lifestyle, or fashion retail sectors.
  • Proven track record of delivering operational excellence in international fashion businesses.
  • Extensive experience managing wholesale and distribution networks.
  • Experience with ecommerce and D2C fulfilment and logistics.
  • Experience with multi‑brand retail and ecommerce.
  • Strong operational and organizational acumen.
  • Excellent computer, data management, systems and IT skills.
  • Experience operating within entrepreneurial, founder‑led or high‑growth businesses.
  • Outstanding leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Willingness to travel internationally as required.
