Department: Joint Inspections Unit – Secretariat

Responsibilities

  • Overall Process: Participate in team and inspector meetings, including external stakeholder meetings and missions outside Geneva. Prepare meeting notes and mission reports.
  • Research, Analysis and Documentation: Conduct qualitative and quantitative research using appropriate technologies (e.g., MS Excel, AI). Assist in drafting interview guides, questionnaires, and surveys; consolidate and analyze findings. Present findings in concise, professional reports and data visualizations. Support drafting key documents by providing text, tables, graphs, and document lists. Maintain contact lists for interviewees.
  • Administration: Prepare cost estimates for travel arrangements. Support recruitment of external consultants and interns. Track key project milestones.
  • Communication with Stakeholders: Prepare notification letters and coordinate distribution. Send meeting invitations, track responses and monitor attendance. Compile correspondence and consolidate replies. Prepare letters for report distribution.
  • Document Management: Create and organize document folders for internal and stakeholder use. Proofread and format documents in line with UN editorial rules. Liaise with editors and translators, providing required formats. Address editors' comments and facilitate final publication. Print, upload reports, and support related communication and outreach. Update information packages on participating organisations and follow up on events and decisions. Monitor acceptance and implementation of JIU recommendations. Participate in continuous quality‑assurance and improvement activities. Support internal and external JIU communication activities.

Education

High‑school diploma or equivalent is required.

Work Experience

At least 7 years of research/analysis experience in oversight, strategic, financial, or operational analysis. Minimum of 5 years applies to candidates with a first‑level university degree. Experience in UN or similar international organisations, internal/external communication, drafting public documents, and stakeholder surveys is desirable.

Languages

Required: English – UN Level III (Reading, Writing, Listening, Speaking). Desirable: French – UN Level I.

Assessment

Evaluation may include an assessment exercise followed by a competency‑based interview.

Initial appointment term of 1 year with possibility of extension. Positions subject to local recruitment rules.
