This is an exciting time to join United Living as the business continues to grow and we have a significant order book of secured future projects. We are looking for a Mechanical Engineering student to join our Infrastructure Services business, who deliver critical resilient infrastructure that improves daily life by partnering with our clients to achieve sustainable outcomes for their customers and communities.

You will join the Major Projects team who are responsible for delivering major infrastructure projects across the UK supporting the governments Net Zero transition targets. As a Placement Student with Major Projects, you will have the opportunity to apply your academic knowledge on real, live projects gaining valuable industry experience. You’ll work alongside experienced colleagues, enabling you to start building your network of professional relationships. This hands-on experience will be instrumental in helping you to gain essential skills and knowledge to enable you to kick start your future career.

You will also join our wider population on activities such as our annual innovation challenge and volunteering and STEM engagement activities and have a buddy who can help answering any questions you have when you are settling into your role.

In order to be successful in this role, we would like you to:

  • be in your penultimate year at University, and on track to achieve a minimum 2:2 in a Mechanical degree or related discipline.
  • be able to commit to a 12-month Industrial Placement that will begin in September 2025.
  • have good organisation and time management skills
  • have effective communication and interpersonal skills
