Our Social Infrastructure pillar operates in the refurbishment and regeneration of thousands of properties nationally. We are currently looking for a Second SHEQ Manager to join our team in the North of England, providing invaluable health and safety support and advice to teams undertaking cyclical internal and external refurbishment work, as well as exciting rooftop development, conversion and fire safety projects.
Your role as SHEQ Manager will involve:
- Managing the SHEQ team, providing guidance, support, and professional development opportunities.
- Supporting the SHEQ strategy aligned with organisational goals and regulatory requirements.
- Creating and updating SHEQ policies, procedures, and management systems (e.g., ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001). Ensuring policies are effectively communicated and understood throughout the organisation.
- Conducting regular risk assessments and hazard analyses for all operations and implementing control measures to mitigate identified risks.
- Leading investigations into accidents, incidents, and near-misses to determine root causes, and developing and overseeing the implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
- Promoting a positive safety culture through training, awareness campaigns, and leadership engagement.
- Overseeing occupational health programmes, including health surveillance and wellness initiatives, ensuring compliance with health regulations such as COSHH and the Health and Safety at Work Act.
- Developing and implementing environmental policies to minimise the organisation's environmental footprint and ensuring compliance with environmental legislation and regulations.
- Implementing and maintaining quality management systems to ensure products and services meet customer expectations, conducting internal quality audits and managing external audits.
- Developing and delivering SHEQ training programmes for employees at all levels, ensuring mandatory training requirements are met and records are maintained.
- Preparing regular reports on SHEQ performance, including statistical analysis and trend identification, presenting findings to senior management and recommending actions.
Qualifications
As a management level role, we are looking for a SHEQ professional with previous construction/property services sector experience, a full UK driving license and vehicle for work purposes. The following qualifications are required or desirable:
- Understanding of health and safety issues as they relate to the property maintenance space, and ability to implement processes in line with industry standards.
- Ability to build strong working relationships with colleagues and subcontractors; a team player who can add value to our operational teams.
- NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent.
- Environmental Management Qualification (desirable).
- CMIOSH or equivalent (or be working towards this).
