Role Overview

United Infrastructure is looking for a reliable and versatile Driver Labourer & Handyperson to support operations across our Social Infrastructure pillar. This role combines on-site labouring, basic maintenance work, and driving/logistics support, ensuring smooth delivery of repairs, maintenance, and project activities across Manchester and our warehouse.

The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting trade teams, maintaining stock and materials, and delivering a high standard of service across our social housing and infrastructure contracts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Driving & Logistics
    • Safely operate company vehicles to transport materials, tools, and equipment
    • Carry out deliveries and collections between sites, suppliers, and the warehouse
    • Assist with loading and unloading of materials
    • Ensure vehicle checks are completed and vehicles are maintained in good condition
    • Plan routes effectively to meet schedules and site requirements
  • Labouring Duties
    • Support trades operatives on-site (plumbers, electricians, multi-trades, etc.)
    • Carry out general labouring duties including:
      • Site preparation and clearance
      • Moving materials and equipment
      • Assisting with installations and repairs
      • Maintain cleanliness and safety of work areas
  • Handyperson Duties
    • Undertake basic maintenance and repair tasks including:
      • Minor carpentry (repairs, adjustments, fittings)
      • Basic plumbing (e.g. changing taps, fixing leaks)
      • Painting and decorating touch-ups
      • Installing fixtures and fittings
      • Carry out snagging and making-good works
      • Support repairs and maintenance works within social housing properties
  • Warehouse Responsibilities
    • Assist with goods in/out, stock control, and inventory checks
    • Organise and maintain a clean, safe warehouse environment
    • Prepare materials and tools for upcoming jobs
    • Report stock shortages or damaged goods
  • Health & Safety
    • Adhere to all Health & Safety policies and procedures
    • Use PPE appropriately and maintain safe working practices
    • Report hazards, incidents, or near misses promptly

Skills & Experience

  • Essential
    • Full UK driving licence (clean or acceptable endorsements)
    • Experience in a labouring, maintenance, or construction environment
    • Basic multi-trade or handyperson skills
    • Good physical fitness and ability to carry out manual tasks
    • Strong work ethic and reliability
    • Good communication and teamwork skills

    • Experience within social housing or repairs & maintenance contracts
    • Warehouse or logistics experience
