United Infrastructure Transmission & Distribution are recruiting for Setting Out Engineers with a Civils bias to join an Overhead Lines Project (OHL) in Argyll, Scotland. You will be focusing on supporting the team in enabling works phase of the overhead lines sites prior to tower assembly and erection.

As a Setting Out Engineer, you will play a critical part in the successful delivery of our projects. You’ll be managing the day-to-day quality assurance, including surveying, setting out duties, quality checks and approvals. You’ll also be assisting the site management teams with all aspects of health, safety, and environmental management.

This is an excellent opportunity to join our growing team at United Infrastructure T&D; this role is site based on a long-term project based in Inverness supporting our client SSE.

Typical Responsibilities

  • Setting out forestry roads, foundations, pile positions
  • Day to day site quality assurance, including surveying, setting out duties, quality checks and approvals
  • Checking subcontractor setting out works
  • Producing Topo’s
  • Producing final records
  • Checking reinstatement works
  • Compliance: ensure compliance with OHSAS 18001:1999, ISO 9001:2000, and ISO 14001:2004 standards

Expected

  • Demonstrable industry experience in a similar role
  • Possess a recognised Safety Qualification (such as IOSH or NEBOSH)
  • Previous experience utilising GPS Setting Out Equipment
  • Supervisory experience of technical aspects of construction, access and accommodation works, traffic management, scaffolds, metal access roads, yard setup, welfare facilities, foundations, conductor and fitting replacement works (desirable)
  • Willingness to work away from home regularly and for prolonged periods of time
  • Demonstrated experience with enabling, access roads and foundation construction in power transmission projects
  • Proven coordination with third parties (local councils, highway authorities, environment agencies, etc)
