Due to significant growth across our Transmission and Distribution business, Wood is seeking an established Quantity Surveyor to support our growing workload within the Commercial area of our business. This role provides flexibility as a hybrid role, working between home, site located at Argyll, and ideally our Glasgow office. Responsibilities

  • Cost Estimation And Budgeting: Develop accurate cost estimates for projects based on project specifications, drawings, and relevant information. Work closely with project managers and stakeholders to establish project budgets and ensure adherence to financial plans.
  • Quantity Surveying: Manage project defined costs for all aspects of the project; including but not limited to labour, materials, subcontractors etc. Analyse and evaluate variations to the contract and provide recommendations for resolution.
  • Contract Administration: Administer contracts and ensure compliance with contractual terms and conditions. Review and assess contract documents, identifying potential risks and proposing mitigation strategies.
  • Cost Control: Monitor and control project costs throughout the lifecycle of the project. Implement effective cost control measures and report on any cost overruns or savings.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including project managers, engineers, and procurement, to ensure seamless project delivery. Engage with project managers, clients, and subcontractors to address queries and resolve issues relating to overall defined cost of the project.
  • Reporting: Prepare and present regular reports on project costs, budget status, and financial forecasts. Provide insights and recommendations to senior management for decision-making.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential risks related to cost and contract management and develop strategies for risk mitigation. Proactively address issues that may impact project costs and timelines.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, regulations, and company policies. Stay abreast of industry trends and best practices in quantity surveying.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within projects.
  • Strong knowledge of quantity surveying principles, cost estimating, and contract administration.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Analytical mindset with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
