The successful individual will work closely with the Framework Director coordinating and supporting our design partners in the development of FEED, Optioneering Studies, Conceptual Design and Detailed Designs as part of our works across our long-term National Gas and Cadent Frameworks. The individual will ensure the design is fully coordinated and complies with United Living’s requirements and current regulations, to achieve the necessary approvals and enable a start on site in line with agreed programmes of work.
Leading and Managing Design Teams: Overseeing the work of external design teams and other design professionals, providing guidance, feedback, and support. Managing capability, capacity and performance of external design teams.
Managing the Design Process: Ensuring the design process is efficient, effective, and aligned with project objectives, budgets, and timelines.
Ensuring Compliance & Assurance: Making sure the design adheres to relevant standards, regulations, and client specifications. Leading Design Management progress meetings with internal and external personnel.
Cost and Budget Management: Developing and managing project engineering budgets and schedules and implementing change control processes.
Stakeholder Collaboration: Building relationships and working with external design houses, engineers, consultants, and other stakeholders to develop design strategies and ensure effective communication and collaboration.
Project Delivery: Ensuring the design is fully coordinated and delivered on time, within budget, and to the required standards. Reviewing designs at various stages of maturity and coordinating delivery team inputs and buildability.
Problem Solving: Identifying and resolving design-related issues that may arise during the project lifecycle and sharing lessons learned across the portfolio of work. Managing and responding to RFI’s and TQ’s raised by the delivery teams during construction phase.
Qualifications:
- Ideally a strong civil and mechanical background with a thorough understanding of the onshore UK Gas sector.
- Experience working with National Gas and/or Cadent (or other Gas Networks) would be advantageous.
- Thorough with a pro-active management style.
- Ability to prioritise as appropriate, motivate and communicate in order to influence others to ensure that the required objectives are met.
- Ability to review drawings and identify buildability and technical issues.
- Project and process management.
- Problem solving and decision making.
- Design delivery and assessing risks.
- Effective communication with all levels of management and project teams, both internal and external to the Company.
- Valid driving licence.
- Knowledge of methodology and sequencing process in delivering a construction project including design and pre-construction activities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
