Job Description

As a member of our multi-skilled and mobile site team, you will be responsible for the on-site installation, testing and sign-off of our projects as well as overseeing all aspects of assigned projects from commencement to completion. You will be enthusiastic and keen to solve problems and will deliver and supervise our projects in a manner that exceeds our customers’ expectations and ensures that our work adheres to the Company’s management systems including all occupational health and safety (OH&S), environmental and quality policies and requirements.

The day-to-day activities of this role will involve travelling to a client’s site and carrying out and supervising the electrical installation and testing work required for that particular project including associated paperwork. You will be part of a the wider site team managed by an Operation Manager and will be delegated responsibilities for site supervision by the site manager.

Your role

The core responsibilities and requirements of this position include:

  • Carry out electrical installation and refurbishment works on existing water company sites in accordance with the project requirements and programme.
  • Work on client sites across the region – you may be required to work away from home and stay overnight during the week subject to the project location and in accordance with the project needs. You may be required to undertake paid overtime as required.
  • Work outside and on sites that convey sewage as well as drinking water and comply with the necessary hygiene standards.
  • Work on multiple projects simultaneously if required.
  • The ability to specify job requirements and the parts / equipment / materials needed
  • Work on client sites as well as in Company workshop as required
  • Undertake and supervise various electrical installations and refurbishment projects
  • Inspection and testing of electrical systems to troubleshoot problems and verify installations
  • Completion of required paperwork to demonstrate installation and testing work has been carried out successfully accurately and timely
  • Utilise design drawings, wiring diagrams and manufacturer’s installation manuals to complete assigned projects
  • Survey electrical systems and plans
  • Supervision and management of installation team with associated responsibility for all site health and safety compliance
  • Compliance with BS7671 requirements and client specific standards

  • Qualifications

    The main skills required for this role are experience and dedication with a positive attitude. We are looking for at least 5 years experience of electrical installation and supervision, ideally in the UK water sector. Good communication, team working and problem solving skills are essential for this role, as well as the ability to understand and implement electrical drawings and instructions.

  • 5+ years’ related experience post qualification in electrical installation, testing and supervision, preferably in the UK water sector
  • Fully qualified electrical fitter (NVQ level 3 or equivalent)
  • 18th Edition preferable
  • 2391Test and Inspection preferable
  • Control and automation experience advantageous
  • Able to work well in a team and supervise others, giving clear instruction and direction
  • Excellent health and safety knowledge and application
  • Well organised with ability to multi task
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Positive “can do” attitude with flexible approach to work
  • Excellent personal presentation
  • Driving licence (full, clean)
  • SSSTS trained
