United Infrastructure Transmission and Distribution team provides HV OHL design supporting construction, procurement, and consultancy on a variety of projects within the sector. Due to significant growth across our Transmission and Distribution business, this role offers an experienced CAD designer the chance to move into a team leadership position and broaden their expertise while working on critical UK transmission projects.
Purpose Of The Position
This position will be in our assurance team and act as the subject matter expert for our CAD designer resources. The role will ensure common delivery processes across the team, lead innovation to improve CAD efficiency, and support staff development in CAD design. It will work across clients, projects, and delivery teams.
Responsibilities And Duties
- Oversee and give technical input and guidance into production of both 3D and 2D drawings.
- Develop and train engineering resources in CAD design deliverables.
- Manage and develop common working methods for CAD design production to ensure consistency and improve efficiency.
- Ensure CAD quality control and checking processes are communicated and being met for CAD production in the team.
- Keep up to date with all technical quality management procedures, developments and specifications related to the discipline work scope.
Qualifications
Essential
- ISCED level 5 – Minimum NVQ level 4, HNC in CAD applicable subject.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in a CAD role delivering construction engineering projects.
- Experience producing CAD outputs with various CAD packages including AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
- GCSE pass (C or higher) in Mathematics and English.
- Fluent spoken and written English.
Desirable
- Experience planning the CAD design delivery budgets and resource execution planning.
- Tracking and reporting on CAD production progress.
- Ability to work maturely in a diverse team.
- Experience working with remote resources.
