UIG Power Transmission & Distribution is seeking a Trainee Site Engineer to work within its Overhead Line and EHV Underground cables teams throughout England and Wales or Scotland. This role is predominantly site-based across England and Wales or Scotland. You will need to be flexible in your work location, as you will be away from home for periods of time, although you will be expected to work from home or your nearest Wood office to suit business needs.

You should preferably have an awareness of the development and delivery of multi-million‑pound projects to deliver safely, on‑time and within budget. Experience of working in a construction environment or with NGED, SSEN, SPEN and similar cabling transmission and distribution network operators is an advantage but not necessary.

The Role

Reporting to the OHL Construction Manager, you will learn all aspects of site engineering, oversee the site management team coordination of foremen, linesmen, and subcontractors while liaising with clients and third parties, and manage the setting People to Work process, including onboarding and site inductions with our programme to support a growing workload across overhead lines (OHL) & EHV UG Cabling. You will contribute to the increased network capacity required to deliver the UK government’s pathway to 2030 and the transition to net zero.
