United Infrastructure Transmission & Distribution is seeking a HSE Lead based in the Inverness region to provide support, assurance, and advice on all matters relating to Health, Safety, Security, and Environment on a permanent, staff basis. HSE experience within an Overhead Lines, Underground Cabling and Civils environment is preferable although not essential. The HSE Lead will provide on-site HSSE support for multiple electricity Transmission and Distribution projects across northern Scotland, offering timely advice and guidance on Health & Safety, Security, and Environment with respect to Legislation, Company Policy and Management System and Client requirements, thereby reducing risks to the business. The role is nominally based at one of the Company’s offices and includes home-working, with occasional visits to facilities and worksites around Scotland for support, assurance activities, and incident investigations.
What You Will Do
- Provide strategic advice, guidance, and support on Project HSSE matters.
- Work with the T&D UK HSSE Manager to roll out Company HSSE objectives and develop project-specific HSSE objectives as necessary.
- Roll out Company HSSE campaigns and initiatives and monitor industry best practice.
- Lead high potential (Level 1) incident investigations and support higher potential (Level 2) investigations, including generating meaningful lessons learned and SMART corrective/preventative actions.
- Visit Project facilities and worksites to provide constructive reviews of status.
- Develop and ensure the implementation of HSSE Management Plans.
- Provide regular performance reports to the Project Management team and T&D UK HSSE Manager.
- Undertake leading and lagging indicator analysis and provide alerts to leadership on trends of concern.
- Act as an HSSE focal point for clients and provide training and mentorship for new recruits into the HSSE team.
Qualifications
- Level 4 Certificate in Health & Safety (minimum) or Level 6 Diploma in Health & Safety or higher (desirable)
- ISO 45001 Lead Auditor
- Incident Investigation Training
Skills
- Lead / Senior HSE Advisor with project and corporate experience in transmission and distribution, oil and gas or other related industry.
- Excellent working knowledge of UK legislation.
- Ability to develop and maintain management systems.
- Ability to undertake investigations and establish causal factors and root causes, and develop detailed investigation reports with corrective/preventative actions.
- Ability to develop training and campaign materials.
- High level of communication skills (written and spoken) across all stakeholders including workforce, management, HSSE, and clients.
- Good planning and organisational skills.
- Competent MS Office suite user.
