Overview

Digital Clinical Safety Officer(Digital Nurse/Midwife/AHP) – Band 7. This is a specialist clinical role within the Digital Team, relating to patient safety and our electronic patient record (ePR) programme. The post holder will be an experienced clinical practitioner (Nurse/Midwife/AHP) and trained Clinical Safety Officer. The purpose of the Clinical Safety Officer (CSO) role is to implement Clinical Risk Management activities within Digital Services that support the safe development, introduction, and deployment of clinical digital systems. The post-holder will coordinate with other Trust teams to ensure a cooperative approach to digital clinical risk management. The post-holder will support the completion of clinical safety reviews, assessments and planned interventions for risks associated with digital systems, including the Trusts new electronic patient record (ePR). The role will include engaging teams across the Lincolnshire Integrated Care System to ensure clinical pathways are considered and these requirements addressed within the clinical safety approach to systems deployed and/or decommissioned as part of the ePR programme within ULHT.

Responsibilities

  • As a Clinical Safety Officer/Digital Clinician, ensure digital technologies are embedded to support safe, efficient and high quality care.
  • Ensure Clinical IT system functionality adheres to professional standards e.g. the NMC, HCPC or similar codes of conduct.
  • Plan clinical risk management activities in support of the development and operation of clinical information systems across the organisation. Facilitate clinical hazard workshops, meetings and other clinical risk management activities as appropriate, assessing complex factors to formulate and adjust plans as necessary.
  • Support the digital agenda within the Trust and wider ICS.
  • Maintain competencies relating to digital leadership by attending regular updates such as local user group initiatives, Clinical reference, and CSO groups, through meetings and online forums such as the NHS Futures platform.
  • Provide professional leadership including motivation of staff regarding the safe use of digital technology and effective risk management.
  • Ensure the relevant data is captured and maintained as a collaborative approach with the wider Multidisciplinary team to meet National and local standards.

Qualifications and requirements

Experienced clinical practitioner (Nurse/Midwife/AHP) and trained Clinical Safety Officer. Ability to follow the digital clinical safety strategy and embed clinical safety processes into practice. Willingness to engage teams across the Lincolnshire Integrated Care System and contribute to clinical safety reviews, assessments, and planned interventions for digital systems and ePR projects.
