Purpose of the role
Colas Ltd are currently seeking a skilled Welder/Fabricator to join our Mechanical Services team in Ringmer, BN8 5NP. This role involves the high-quality fabrication of structures and forms, as well as planned and emergency welding and repairs on various vehicles and plant equipment.
Main Responsibilities
As a Welder/Fabricator, you will be responsible for carrying out high-quality fabrication and welding tasks, ensuring all work meets required specifications and standards. You will perform both planned maintenance and emergency breakdown repairs on a range of vehicles and plant equipment. This role requires the ability to read and interpret technical drawings accurately, while adhering to all health and safety procedures to maintain a safe working environment. You will be expected to complete all necessary paperwork accurately and on time and ensure that all tasks are carried out with full regard for the safety of yourself, your colleagues, and visitors. Active participation in safety briefings is essential, along with strong timekeeping, attention to detail, and a commitment to quality. Working as part of a collaborative team, you will foster positive working relationships and support the promotion of lean principles to drive efficiency and continuous improvement across the business.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will have an NVQ Level 3 or City & Guilds qualification in welding (or equivalent) and a minimum of five years’ experience in a similar role. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of various welding techniques and be comfortable working from technical drawings. Good communication and problem-solving skills are essential, as is a thorough knowledge of health and safety practices. You should be a reliable team player with a proactive attitude and hold a full, clean UK driving licence. While site work experience is desirable, it is not essential.
