Purpose of the role

We are seeking a motivated Multi‑Skilled Maintenance Engineer to supervise engineering activities, manage risk assessments and oversee the health and safety of the bitumen production and storage plant in Avonmouth, Bristol. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring the production facility remains operational. The role offers a salary of approximately £55,000 plus overtime and includes excellent benefits.

Main Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned and reactive maintenance of pumps, pressure systems and motors, with an electrical bias.
  • Diagnose faults and perform effective fault‑finding across mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Support reactive repairs and participate in continuous improvement and upgrade projects.
  • Maintain safe and efficient operation of machinery, adhering to relevant safety procedures and legislation.
  • Contribute to maintenance planning, record keeping and reporting as required.
  • Work as part of a close‑knit team with opportunities for overtime and personal development.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will have strong fault‑finding skills and proven maintenance experience. You should be time‑served in Mechanical and Electrical trades or be a fully qualified engineer (City & Guilds, HNC, HND or equivalent). Experience with pressure systems, pumps and hydraulics is highly desirable. Good communication skills and a proactive approach to health and safety are essential.
