Overview
In this role, you will lead HMRC’s engagement with the tax agent community to support the Making Tax Digital programme. You’ll act as a visible ambassador, translating complex policy into accessible guidance for external audiences and shaping engagement strategies with stakeholders. The work involves liaising with tax professionals, professional bodies, and software providers to drive readiness for programme changes. This position offers impactful work at the heart of HMRC’s digital transformation and stakeholder collaboration.

Responsibilities
- Lead HMRC's engagement with tax agents, professional bodies and external stakeholders to support Making Tax Digital delivery
- Represent HMRC at conferences, webinars, forums and industry events, delivering presentations and handling questions
- Translate complex policy and technical requirements into clear, practical guidance for external audiences
- Develop and deliver stakeholder engagement strategies using insights to inform decisions, manage risks and improve outcomes
Key requirements
- Proven ability to interpret complex tax, policy or technical requirements for external audiences
- Excellent communication and influencing skills with experience at stakeholder events
- Significant experience influencing senior external stakeholders and building partnerships aligning with organisational priorities
- Fully qualified Accountant and/or Tax Adviser and membership of a relevant professional body, or demonstrable equivalent through substantial experience
- Knowledge of Income Tax Self Assessment, digital accounting practices and Making Tax Digital
