Overview
In this Lead Platform Owner role within HMRC’s Enterprise Cloud Services, you will shape the private hosting strategy and roadmaps for on-prem and private cloud platforms. You’ll align platform plans with business goals, drive operational excellence, and reduce technology debt across multiple teams and partners. You will lead strategic initiatives, oversee lifecycle management, and ensure security and compliance in a complex, regulated environment. This is a high-impact, collaborative role that bridges technical delivery and business outcomes.

Responsibilities
- Own and report on budgets and cost recovery with Commercial and Supplier Management
- Manage end-to-end lifecycle of private hosting products and platforms for operational efficiency and stability
- Lead strategy alignment, stakeholder engagement, and migration/retirement of legacy services
- Drive continuous improvement to enhance platform capabilities and reduce tech debt
- Implement strong security controls and ensure regulatory compliance across platforms
Key requirements
- Experience owning and managing enterprise products or platforms with focus on performance, scalability, and continuous improvement
- ITIL v4 and ITSM expertise
- Collaborative leadership with strong written/verbal communication and influence without direct authority
- Budget responsibility and familiarity with contracts and supplier relationships
- Experience with both cloud and on-premises technologies
- Strategic leadership for roadmaps and cross-functional alignment
- Experience leading federated/distributed teams and stakeholder management
- Risk assessment and mitigation to protect service stability, security, and delivery outcomes
