Overview

In this National Support Unit role, you will lead safety and security across Operations, guiding a cadre of Regional Safety and Security Officers.

You’ll act as a senior advisor on safety, fire safety and health and safety matters to senior leaders, ensuring compliance with legislative and administrative requirements.

You will shape safety policies, oversee risk oversight, and drive capability through a regional and national lens.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and prioritise work of the Regional Safety and Security Officers (RSSOs)
  • Manage the safety and security framework to identify significant risks across Operations
  • Provide professional support to teams and ensure competency requirements are met
  • Oversee Fire Risk Assessments and Health and Safety/security audits for compliance
  • Deliver high-quality briefings to senior leaders on safety and security issues
  • Promote best practice in safety and security management across Operations
  • Contribute to national safety, fire safety and health policy development
  • Oversee and, where appropriate, conduct training programmes for security and safety matters
  • Key requirements
  • Comprehensive people management and leadership skills
  • Experience influencing senior management
  • Experience with HMCTS Health and Safety policies and systems
  • Operational delivery experience in safety and security incident management
  • Strong written and verbal communication, ability to present papers
  • Planning and organisational skills for programmes and work schedules
  • Ability to analyse audit data to identify trends and drive actions
