Overview

In this role you will lead IT audit engagements to provide assurance on governance, risk, and controls within HMRC’s large-scale digital transformation.

You work within the Internal Audit team to set and maintain high-quality standards, collaborating with audit partners and senior management to drive impact.

You will advise on risk and controls, and contribute to the audit plan while mentoring trainee auditors.

This is a chance to shape assurance across government programmes and develop your expertise in a fast-moving, complex environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead IT audit engagements ensuring quality standards
  • Identify and assess complex IT risks and controls
  • Engage with audit partners and act as a critical friend on major programmes
  • Advise on risk, governance and control to support strategic objectives
  • Communicate effectively with senior management to maximise impact
  • Contribute to development of the internal audit plan and processes
  • Mentor or line-manage trainee auditors as needed
  • Key requirements
  • Qualified IT Auditor with an IT audit qualification
  • CISA or equivalent (e. g., CRISC, CISM, CGEIT) and post-qualification experience
  • Experience delivering IT internal audit reviews in medium to large organisations
  • Strong team player with independent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills across organisational levels
