Job description: As a Supplier Manager within CDIO Borders and Trade, you will manage a portfolio of supplier contracts, ensuring strong performance, value for money and delivery against agreed outcomes. You will oversee key aspects of supplier management including relationships, risks and issues, budgets, and continuous improvement, aligned to HMRC standards and ways of working. Working with a wide range of stakeholders across Commercial, Finance, Security and Programme teams, you will support the effective delivery of critical services across Borders and Trade.
Responsibilities:
- Manage strategic supplier relationships and ensure delivery against contractual obligations, including day-to-day service delivery management.
- Lead supplier performance reviews, including monitoring and managing operational performance service improvement plans, and issue resolution.
- Understand and interpret KPIs, SLAs and critical metrics to effectively measure supplier performance and drive operational improvements.
- Support contract governance, including reporting, business continuity planning, risk management, and compliance.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders across commercial, finance, and delivery teams to support effective service delivery and contract outcomes.
- Contribute to contract renewals, variations, and re-procurements in line with internal governance requirements and public procurement regulations.
- Drive innovation and continuous improvement through supplier engagement and identify opportunities to enhance operational performance.
- Support budget management activities, including purchase orders and invoice approvals, working closely with Finance.
- Support mobilisation and transition of new or changing supplier arrangements.
Essential Criteria:
- Recent experience in managing multiple suppliers in a large, complex organisation.
- Strong understanding of contract management principles and supplier performance frameworks.
- Ability to analyse performance data and drive service improvements.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement, relationship building and communication skills.
- Knowledge and experience of engaging suppliers via Statements of Work (SoWs), including defining deliverables, milestones, and performance measures.
- A solution-focused mindset, with the ability to identify issues, challenge existing ways of working and implement improvements.
Desirable Criteria:
- Practitioner level in Contract Management & Capability Programme (CMCP).
- Experience working in Agile or IT environments.

HMRC operates both Flexible and Hybrid Working policies, allowing you to balance your work and personal commitments.
