Immigration Enforcement is responsible for enforcing the government’s immigration laws, tackling illegal migration, removing foreign national offenders and immigration offenders from the UK. We also aim to disrupt the organised criminal groups that exploit the vulnerable for their personal gain.

Public and Personal Safety Training (PPST) sits within the Immigration Enforcement (IE) Operational Training Academy (OTA).

The unit oversees several critical areas of training delivery, including Public & Personal Safety Training, Method of Entry, Emergency Life Support Skills, and Extradition Custodial Training. On occasion you may be asked to cover other training requirements for front line enforcement.

The roles and responsibilities of Public & Personal Safety Training Chief Immigration Officers include, but are not limited to:

• Delivering on training courses
• Management of courses for the business
• Liaising with stakeholders
• Assessing and assuring developing trainers
• Designing training programs
• Maintaining delivery of high-quality training for the business
• Completion of mandatory annual Continuous Professional Development (CPD)
• Completing trainer and officer pathway
• Occasional operational visits

Key Responsibilities:

• You will be required to deliver training but will also undertake other specialist workstreams which may include project work, course development, design, and standardisation.
• Travelling nationally to deliver training, which will include overnights in hotels.
• Representing and promoting the standards of Immigration Enforcement and OTA amongst internal and external partners.
• Providing support to the Senior Management Team within the wider Operational Training Academy.
• Covering other areas of training delivery within Immigration Enforcement and partner agencies.
• Liaising with numerous internal and external partners and customers.
• Supporting the wider activity of Immigration Enforcement and OTA, as required.
• You will be expected to accept reasonable alterations and additional tasks of a similar level that may be necessary.

Working Pattern
Due to the business requirements of this role, it is only available on a full-time basis.

Travel
You will be required to work flexibly and have the ability to work nationally for prolonged periods, to meet the demands of the training unit. Travelling expenses will be paid in line with Home Office policy when away from permanent office location.

Person specification

Essential Criteria

• Must be PPST Level 3 trained and in ticket.
• Excellent leadership and written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience of providing learning and development solutions.
• Experience of providing learning interventions on behalf of an organisation.
• Proven track record for developing self and others.
• Must have a Full UK valid (manual) driving licence.

Desirable Criteria

• Accredited Personal Safety Trainer which is aligned to the College of Policing's Personal Safety Manual and certified by a PPST delivery Force/Agency.
• Holds or willing to work towards a Level 4 Certificate in Education & Training.
• Demonstrable knowledge of immigration legislation, policies, processes, and border and visa functions, with the ability to apply this understanding effectively in a professional environment.

Driving Licence
Due to the nature of the work and the geographical area, driving is an essential requirement for this role. You will be required to drive on official business. You must have a full valid UK manual driving licence.

This role currently attracts Annualised Hours Allowance (AHA) of 21.85% of salary (depending on location), which equates to an additional 9,123.88 to 10,542.63 per annum based on salary minimum.
