Overview
In this role, you’ll help Borders & Trade understand and improve its customs services using data-driven evidence. You’ll work with policy, operations, digital, and enterprise architecture to shape service changes that support HMRC priorities. The job focuses on turning complex challenges into actionable recommendations for senior leaders and investment decisions. You’ll operate in a transformative, cross-functional environment that values practical analysis and impact. Responsibilities
- Analyze end-to-end services including customer journeys, processes, data, technology, and delivery risks
- Identify changes with clear rationale and impact to prioritise actions
- Produce clear analyses, options, and visual materials to support senior leadership decisions
- Create practical products like service maps, current/future-state analyses, impact assessments, options papers, and recommendations
- Collaborate across policy, operations, change, digital, data and Enterprise Architecture to test assumptions and align with wider HMRC priorities
- Support investment decisions, assurance activities, fiscal event planning, and the future shape of Borders and Trade services
Key requirements
- Strong analytical ability to break down complex issues and extract key evidence, risks, and choices
- Experience using evidence and data to derive insights, findings, options, and recommendations
- Experience mapping or describing services, processes, operating models or customer journeys
- Ability to identify impacts, dependencies and trade-offs across people, processes, data, technology, controls, cost and delivery
- Clear written and visual communication of complex analysis and concise briefings
- Experience working with multiple stakeholders to test assumptions and influence decisions
