Are you finishing school or college and looking for your first step into the world of work?
This is an exciting opportunity to join UKAS’s Finance team, gain practical experience and work towards a recognised AAT accounting qualification while earning a salary.
We are looking for someone who enjoys working with numbers, is keen to learn and wants to build a long-term career in finance or accounting.
You will be supported by experienced colleagues as you develop your confidence, knowledge and workplace skills.
You do not need previous finance experience.
What you will learn
You will study towards the AAT qualification, progressing through Levels 2, 3 and 4.
Your online learning and private study will sit alongside your day-to-day responsibilities as a member of the Finance team, helping you put your new knowledge into practice.
You will receive
- Structured study towards a recognised finance qualification.
- Day-to-day support from your line manager and mentor.
- Practical experience across a range of finance activities.
- What you will be doing
- Processing purchase invoices, sales invoices, payments and receipts.
- Updating financial records, systems, spreadsheets and reports.
- Supporting bank, supplier and other account reconciliations.
- Responding professionally to routine questions from colleagues, customers and suppliers.
- Assisting with budget monitoring and month-end and year-end activities.
- Working with teams across UKAS to provide effective financial administration.
- Handling financial information accurately, securely and confidentially.

- Entry requirements
- Nine GCSEs or equivalent at grade 5 or above, including English and Mathematics
- Three A levels at grades A–C, including at least one of Mathematics, Economics, Business Studies or Accounting
Experience with spreadsheets, data or an office environment would be useful, but it is not essential—we will help you learn.
This is a full-time role, based at our Head Office in Staines-upon-Thames.
