United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS), the UK’s sole national accreditation body, is seeking a knowledgeable and driven Accreditation Specialist to join our dedicated Forensics team.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a candidate with strong accreditation experience and a passion for high standards to take the lead in a nationally significant sector. You’ll work at the forefront of science, policy, and public trust, contributing to national and international conversations on forensic quality and assurance.

The Role

As a key member of the Forensics section, you’ll support the Section Head and lead a broad range of technical and strategic activities, including:

  • Contributing to the development of UKAS policies within the Forensics sector.
  • Leading technical operations by managing, participating in and authorising accreditation decisions.
  • Overseeing non-conformances and guiding continual improvement across forensic providers.
  • Supporting sector-wide assurance by collaborating with the Forensic Science Regulator to shape and deliver a long-term quality assurance strategy.
  • Driving innovation and development by supporting the roll-out of new accreditation areas.
  • Engaging with key stakeholders by representing UKAS nationally and internationally, forging relationships with government, law enforcement, forensic providers and industry bodies.

Who We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone with in-depth knowledge of accreditation principles, exceptional analytical and communication skills and a confident, collaborative approach to stakeholder engagement.

Your ability to understand complex technical processes and turn them into practical guidance will be key to your success in this role.

You’ll also need:

  • A deep understanding of accreditation standards, ISO/IEC 17025 and ISO/IEC 17020, and the assessment process.
  • Experience in forensic science.
  • Confidence working independently and as part of a team.
  • An interest in helping shape a trusted and transparent accreditation landscape.
