Our Social Infrastructure pillar operates in the refurbishment and regeneration of thousands of properties nationally. We are currently looking for an Environmental and Sustainability Advisor to join our team, providing invaluable environmental support and advice to teams undertaking cyclical internal/external refurbishment works to properties, as well as exciting rooftop development, conversion, and fire safety projects.

Your role as Environmental and Sustainability Advisor will include:

  • Supporting the SHEQ strategy aligned with organisational goals and regulatory requirements.
  • Conducting internal environmental audits to ensure compliance with the Integrated Management System (IMS).
  • Supporting the review and update of environmental documentation including procedures, risk registers, legal registers, training material, and site-specific plans.
  • Assisting project teams with the implementation of environmental procedures to ensure that contracts are environmentally compliant.
  • Supporting waste management practices across the pillar, including waste data collection and analysis, performance reviews, and initiatives to increase recycling rates.
  • Providing insight into driving waste reduction strategy.
  • Supporting the implementation of the Normative Carbon Capture platform across the projects to enhance emissions tracking and reporting.
  • Supporting capture and data analysis across the projects to support pillar-wide carbon reporting.
  • Assisting operational teams in the delivery of the project's team targets and metrics related to carbon reduction and waste management.
  • Providing advice to colleagues and subcontractors on environmental matters to ensure the effectiveness of the Construction Phase Plans during the lifecycle of the project.
  • Leading investigations into environmental accidents, incidents, and near-misses to determine root causes.
  • Developing and overseeing the implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
  • Undertaking reviews of UI Social Infrastructure/contractor documentation and participating in site meetings when required.
  • Upskilling wider teams on environmental and sustainability subject matters; supporting the development of toolbox talks and training documents.
