United Infrastructure Ltd is seeking a skilled and motivated Electrical Engineer to support the delivery of electrical engineering works across DNO, ICP, and wider infrastructure projects. This is a hands-on, site-focused role, ideal for an engineer who is comfortable working on live electrical infrastructure, supporting installations, testing, commissioning, and fault-finding activities. The role will support projects across power distribution networks, utility infrastructure, substations, and associated civil works. You will work closely with project managers, site teams, and multi-disciplinary engineering teams to ensure electrical works are delivered safely, compliantly, and in line with programme and quality expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- Electrical Engineering Delivery & Site Support
- Deliver hands-on electrical engineering support across DNO and ICP projects, including installation, testing, commissioning, and maintenance activities.
- Work on LV and HV electrical infrastructure including substations, switchgear, transformers, feeder pillars, and associated cabling.
- Interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and specifications to ensure accurate and compliant site delivery.
- Support site setup activities, temporary power arrangements, and coordination with civil teams.
- Diagnose and resolve electrical faults on live and newly installed networks.
- DNO / ICP Compliance & Technical Assurance
- Ensure all electrical works comply with relevant DNO standards, ICP procedures, BS standards, and industry regulations.
- Work in accordance with G81, DNO specifications, and project-specific technical requirements.
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation including test results, inspection records, and as-built information.
- Support audits, inspections, and approvals from DNOs, ICPs, and independent assessors.
- Testing, Commissioning & Handover
- Carry out or support testing and commissioning of LV and HV electrical systems and assets.
- Assist with energisation processes, outages, and liaison with network operators.
- Support final commissioning, handover documentation, and client acceptance.
- Health, Safety, Environment & Quality (HSQE)
- Work strictly in line with health and safety procedures, permits, and safe systems of work.
- Ensure RAMS, electrical safety rules, and isolation procedures are followed at all times.
- Promote a strong safety culture and challenge unsafe practices on site.
- Support quality inspections and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Project & Stakeholder Coordination
- Liaise with project managers, site supervisors, civil engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers to coordinate electrical scope.
- Support communication with DNOs, ICPs, clients, and third-party stakeholders.
- Assist in managing programme interfaces between electrical and civil works.
About You
- Experience
- Proven experience working on DNO and/or ICP electrical infrastructure projects.
- Experience in electrical installation, testing, commissioning, and fault-finding within utility or infrastructure environments.
- Knowledge of LV and HV distribution networks, substations, and power systems.
- Experience working on live sites with strict safety and operational controls.
- Previous experience coordinating with civil engineering teams is highly desirable.
- Technical Competencies
- Strong understanding of electrical distribution systems, protection, and control.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and specifications.
- Familiarity with G81 requirements, DNO standards, and utility-specific procedures.
- Working knowledge of electrical testing equipment and commissioning processes.
