Key Responsibilities
- Support regional and functional leads in the development of effective tender packages considering delivery risks and opportunities.
- Coordinate input from multiple disciplines to ensure the robustness of commercial estimates and tenders while remaining competitive.
- Manage tender budgets and cost codes, report on costs, and advise on budget requirements.
- Lead pricing reviews and coordinate inputs from all necessary disciplines.
- Guide estimating to ensure pricing aligns with commercial strategy.
- Coordinate contract reviews, making qualifications appropriate for risk profile.
- Lead risk reviews, appreciating likely risks and prompting engagement from all disciplines.
- Coordinate regional Commercial Manager engagement and ownership.
- Lead bid clarification, qualification basis with client interface.
- Lead commercial handovers to delivery team.
- Oversee and facilitate supply‑chain input.
- Manage tender governance and review process.
- Manage external support and consultants.
- Line manage estimating and contracts team.
- Serve as client point of contact for commercial and pricing negotiations.
Person Specification
- Degree in Quantity Surveying, Law, or Business Studies with appropriate professional qualification (preferred) or relevant experience.
- Substantial experience in a similar role with consolidated leadership/management experience, ideally gained in Transmission and Distribution or civils sectors (although not essential).
- Instinctive appreciation of risks and figures when reviewing and approving team work product.
- Ability to inspire the team to deliver promptly and accurately to tight deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills: written, verbal and presentation.
- Ability to communicate complex principles effectively at all levels within the organization.
- Demonstrate teamwork, respect, integrity, innovation, and a client‑driven approach.
- Collaborate across multi‑disciplines at all levels of the business with a practical, hands‑on approach.
- Flexible to undertake varying work with changing priorities.
