Role Title: Quality Adviser – Transmission & Distribution
Introduction:
As the UK transitions towards a low‑carbon energy system under the Government’s Clean Power 2030 Action Plan, resilient and flexible electricity infrastructure is critical. United Infrastructure supports this transition by delivering fully integrated power infrastructure solutions across transmission and distribution networks. As an Independent Connection Provider (ICP), we deliver end-to-end design, construction, and maintenance of electrical networks up to 400kV.
What are we looking for:
As part of our services, the Power Transmission & Distribution (UIPT&D) team are seeking a full time Quality Adviser to support the quality management processes and controls in the delivery of a significant project to our client.
The project, based in Alness, Scotland, is to construct and install energy transmission infrastructure covering approximately 80km of the Scottish Highlands between Loch Buidhe to Beauly.
About the role:
Reporting to the Quality Lead the Quality Adviser is responsible supporting the implementation, monitoring, and continual improvement of quality management systems across the project.
The role ensures that all works are planned, executed, and documented in compliance with contractual requirements, company procedures, and applicable industry standards, while promoting a culture of right‑first‑time delivery.
The role operates as a key member of the project HSEQ leadership team and provides assurance to both internal management and the client that quality risks are effectively controlled throughout the project lifecycle.
Other responsibilities of the role include:
Quality Management & Assurance
Support the implementation and maintenance of the Project Quality Plan (PQP).
Ensure compliance with ISO Standards and relevant client‑specific quality requirements.
Assist in developing, reviewing, and controlling quality procedures, inspection and test plans (ITPs), and method statements.
Promote consistent application of quality controls across transmission and distribution activities.
Site Quality Assurance
Conduct site inspections and surveillance to verify work conforms to approved drawings, specifications, and standards.
Monitor works across disciplines such as civil, overhead lines and commissioning.
Identify non‑conformities and support the raising, investigation, tracking, and close‑out of NCRs.
Verify corrective and preventive actions are implemented effectively.
Auditing & Compliance
Assist with internal and external audits, including client and supply chain audits.
Prepare audit documentation, findings, and corrective action plans.
Support compliance with regulatory bodies and industry frameworks (e.g. National Grid, DNOs, ENA standards).
Document Control & Records
Ensure quality records are produced, reviewed, and maintained in accordance with project requirements.
Support the management of handover documentation, including Quality Files and Lifetime Records.
Ensure accurate version control of quality documents and drawings.
Stakeholder & Supply Chain Support
Liaise with construction teams, engineers, and subcontractors to embed quality requirements.
Provide guidance to site teams on quality processes and best practice.
Support supplier and subcontractor quality performance monitoring.
Continuous Improvement
Capture lessons learned, quality observations, and improvement opportunities.
Contribute to quality performance reporting and KPIs.
Promote a “right first time” and defect prevention culture.
Health, Safety, Environment & Sustainability
Actively support and promote a positive HSE and sustainability culture.
Ensure quality activities align with safety, environmental, and ethical standards.
Escalate any quality‑related risks that could impact safety, programme, cost, or compliance.
Skills & Competencies
Essential
Experience working in a quality role within construction or utilities/infrastructure.
Knowledge of ISO Standards Management Systems.
Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and technical standards.
Effective communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
Good organisational skills with attention to detail.
Desirable
Understanding of transmission and distribution construction works.
Experience on HV/EHV transmission or DNO projects.
Familiarity with client standards (e.g. National Grid, SSEN, UK Power Networks).
Internal Auditor qualification (ISO Standards).
Experience with digital quality systems and electronic handover documentation.
Qualifications
Relevant construction, engineering, or quality‑related qualification (HNC/HND/Degree desirable or working towards).
Auditor or quality‑specific certifications desirable.

Competitive Annual Salary with regular reviews in line with the industry sector based upon knowledge, skills, and experience. (£51,750 - £63,250)
Car/Car Allowance Based on your location, the option of a company Car or Car Allowance (£3750/year taxable) may be included.
