Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced and commercially astute Commercial Manager to join our team and support the successful delivery of utility and cable joining projects across the UK.
As Commercial Manager, you will play a key role in managing the commercial performance of projects and frameworks within the utilities sector. Working closely with operational teams, clients, and senior leadership, you will ensure robust commercial governance, contractual compliance, and effective cost control across multiple projects. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the commercial management of utility and cable joining projects from tender through to final account
- Manage NEC and other standard forms of contract
- Oversee valuations, applications for payment, variations, and final accounts
- Monitor project costs, profitability, and commercial risk
- Provide commercial support and guidance to operational delivery teams
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, subcontractors, and stakeholders
- Support procurement and subcontract management activities
- Ensure compliance with company procedures and contractual obligations
- Produce accurate commercial reporting and forecasts for senior management
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and operational efficiencies
About You
We are looking for a commercially focused professional with experience within utilities, power, civil engineering, or infrastructure environments.
Essential Requirements
- Proven experience in a Commercial Manager or Quantity Surveyor role
- Experience within utilities, cable joining, power distribution, or infrastructure projects
- Excellent commercial awareness and negotiation skills
- Strong analytical and financial management abilities
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively
- Full UK driving licence
Desirable
- Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or related discipline
- Experience working within DNO or IDNO frameworks
