Role Overview
United Infrastructure is seeking a skilled and reliable Multi‑Skilled Plumber to support our social housing repairs and maintenance contract. The successful candidate will deliver high‑quality plumbing works alongside multi‑trade tasks, ensuring homes are safe, compliant, and maintained to a high standard. You will play a key role in providing responsive and planned maintenance services to tenants, delivering excellent customer service while meeting operational and compliance targets.
Key Responsibilities
Plumbing Duties
- Carry out day‑to‑day responsive repairs, maintenance, and installations on domestic plumbing systems.
- Diagnose and repair faults including leaks, blockages, and faulty fixtures.
- Install and maintain sanitary ware (toilets, basins, baths, sinks).
- Repair and maintain pipework (copper, plastic, etc.).
- Carry out minor drainage works and unblocking.
- Ensure water systems are safe and compliant with relevant regulations.
Multi‑Skilled Duties
- Undertake additional basic trade tasks including carpentry (boxing in, minor repairs).
- Tiling and patch plastering.
- Basic painting & decorating.
- Make good surfaces following plumbing repairs.
Customer Service
- Work in occupied and void social housing properties.
- Engage professionally with residents, ensuring clear communication.
- Provide a high standard of customer care at all times.
Compliance & Safety
- Adhere to Health & Safety regulations and safe working practices.
- Complete required risk assessments and method statements (RAMS).
- Ensure all work meets industry and regulatory standards.
- Maintain accurate job records using handheld devices or systems.
Operational Responsibilities
- Complete works within allocated timescales and KPIs.
- Use company systems for job updates, materials, and reporting.
- Maintain van stock levels and ensure company vehicle is kept safe and secure.
- Participate in call‑out rota if required.
Essential – Skills & Experience
- Proven experience as a plumber in repairs and maintenance.
- Experience working within social housing or similar environments.
- Strong fault‑finding and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to carry out multi‑trade duties to a good standard.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
Desirable
- NVQ Level 2/3 in Plumbing or equivalent qualification.
- Experience with planned maintenance and voids.
- Knowledge of compliance requirements within social housing.
- Basic IT skills (for mobile job management systems).
