Due to significant growth across our Transmission and Distribution business, United Infrastructure are seeking an established Senior Quantity Surveyor to support our growing workload within the Commercial area of our business. This is a site based role based in Argyll, Scotland.

This role is perfect for an established and commercially minded Senior Quantity Surveyor from a civils/infrastructure or construction background, although not essential, with a wide range of projects under their belt who is looking for a new high profile challenge. The successful candidate will be experienced in cost & change control, contract & subcontract administration, and project reporting; and will be assigned to a contract with SSE who are a client. There will be opportunity for future progression and to work on further Scotland based transmission and distribution projects thereafter. Sound commercial judgement, flexibility, the ability to collaborate with others via MS Teams and travel to sites across Scotland is key.
You will provide commercial support concerning financial and contractual matters arising through the management of our client project. This role involves post award contract administration, provision of commercial/contract deliverables, implementation of project plans; undertaking costs analysis, preparation of cashflow forecasts, developing subcontracting commercial strategy as required; contributing to internal project reviews and developing project forecasts. You will enjoy the challenges of the project just starting construction, monitoring execution to tight deadlines, identifying entitlement and managing performance within budgets.

Responsibilities:
- Post award contract administration including ensuring payment applications and invoices are prepared in a timely and accurate manner to include full contract entitlement ensuring scope of delivery is understood by the contract management team and change is captured in contract variations/amendments, commercial administration files are established and maintained, and correspondence is properly documented.
- Timely provision of commercial/contract deliverables such as bonds, PCGs, evidence of insurance and reporting.
- Development, implementation, and maintenance of project commercial plans including commercial strategy, subcontracting commercial strategy, and profit improvement plans.
- Regular cost analysis to maximize recoverable costs, minimize disallowable costs, identify areas for cost saving, and ensure adequate cost accruals and provisions are in place.
- Ensure that all commercial related DOA matters are correctly approved and documented.
- Preparation of project cashflow forecasts, expenditure, invoice preparation, and expediting of payments in accordance with client contract requirements for UI processes and procedures.
- Developing Subcontracting commercial strategy in conjunction with Project management, Supply Chain and other functions as required.
- Preparation and analysis of inputs to key contract and internal project reporting requirements and participation in internal project reviews.
- Developing robust project forecasts in conjunction with the project team.
Qualifications:
- Degree in Quantity Surveying, Law, or Business Studies along with appropriate professional qualification (preferred).
- Substantial demonstrated experience within a QS or Senior QS role preferably gained from a transmission and distribution overhead lines background although not essential.
- Working knowledge of NEC contracts.
- Awareness of all relevant corporate and project procedures.
- Proven experience in contract administration including change management.
