United Infrastructure is a UK-based infrastructure services company delivering critical energy, power, water, telecoms and social infrastructure projects. Following the acquisition of Wood’s UK Transmission & Distribution business, United Infrastructure has strengthened its capabilities in power engineering, construction and asset optimisation, supporting grid resilience and the transition to a low-carbon energy system. The company partners with public and private clients to deliver safe, sustainable and future-ready infrastructure across the UK.
UIG Power Transmission & Distribution is seeking a Trainee Site Engineer to work within its Overhead Line and EHV Underground cables teams across Scotland. This role is predominantly site based across Scotland, and you will need to be flexible in your work location as you may be away from home for periods of time, although you will be expected to work from home or your nearest Wood office to suit business needs. You will preferably have an awareness of development and delivery of multi-million-pound projects to deliver safely, on-time and within budget. Experience of working in a construction environment or working with NGED, SSEN, SPEN and similar cabling transmission and distribution network operators is an advantage but not necessary.

Responsibilities for Internal Candidates:
- Maintains relationships with team and stakeholders
- Negotiates minor changes with the sponsor/customer
- Reports progress regularly
- Solves problems
- Attends customer meetings to understand requirements
- Drafts project documents
- Prepares organization charts
- Tracks progress and quality
- With support & guidance, uses tools to monitor plans, hours, budgets, and spending
- Communicates project info to the wider team and customer
Qualifications:
GCSE/A Level/T Level in a practical subject along with functional Maths and English. Demonstrated project delivery, with experience/awareness in good communication skills. Highly organised and takes initiative.
