To contribute to the achievement of the organisation’s objectives and continuous improvement specifically in relation to maximising the productivity and performance of the teams in accordance with standard operating procedures within the excavation division.
Key Responsibilities- To maximise the performance and productivity of own team/s in accordance with performance targets and standards set by line manager and contractual requirements.
- To ensure that all work is undertaken in accordance with health and safety requirements and within the zero tolerance for poor health and safety practices.
- To maximise efficiency in the scheduling and planning of work programmes.
- To maximise the skills and competency of the team/s through coaching, instruction and mentoring to improve practice.
- To collect, collate and analyse performance information to enable accurate and timely reporting against performance measures and financial viability.
- To carry out quality and safety audits on a planned and unannounced basis identifying improvement actions and ensuring compliance with all standard procedures.
- To identify NRASWA requirements in order to serve the correct notices and permits.
- To carry out all procedures relating to the supervision of the team/s including absence management, performance reviews and improvements, probationary reviews, toolbox talks and team meetings.
- To demonstrate the values of the business at all times and in all situations with clients, customers and staff.
- To create and maintain effective working relationships with line manager and colleagues and work effectively as part of the team to ensure that all relevant internal communication is timely and accurate.
- To ensure that all relevant health and safety, equality and diversity legislation and Company procedures are complied with at all times.
- To comply with Company and legislative requirements regarding the confidentiality of staff records at all times.
- To actively participate in the performance review and personal development processes and contribute towards your own development.
- To carry out any other duties as might be reasonably requested by your line manager.
- Proven supervisory experience in highway and non-highway excavations – Drainage Preferable.
- Recent qualification in Team Leading at level 3 or equivalent.
- A working knowledge of the relevant industry and health and safety legislation and regulations including NRASWA requirements and Confined Space.
- Enthusiasm for continuous improvement and change and the confidence to challenge poor practice.
- Experience in conducting quality and safety audits.
- IT literate and competent in the use of standard office packages such as Excel as well as using bespoke systems in managing workload.
- Organising and planning skills.
- Communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of employment legislation.
- Full driving license for use with manual vehicles.
