Remarkable people, trusted by clients to design and advance the world. Due to significant growth across our Transmission and Distribution UK business, United Infrastructure T&D Limited are seeking a Subcontracts Engineer.
We are open to applications from across the UK to be based at any of our main offices on a hybrid working basis, and we will also consider remote working.
The Role
Reporting to Subcontracts Lead, this role will be responsible for the execution of subcontracts activities with responsibility for ensuring successful outcomes in line with project requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
- Operate in accordance with appropriate Corporate and Project Specific Supply Chain Procedures
- Ensure all subcontract activities are carried out in accordance with the project execution plan / schedule and / or contracting strategy, within approved budgets and in line with project processes and procedures
- Utilise the Approved Supplier Register (ASR) and supplement (as required) with project/client approved supplier registers for supplier evaluation, audit, and selection as well as carrying out supplier performance reviews
- Undertake subcontractor performance reviews and ongoing management ensuring corrective actions are taken where required
- Ensure that all statutory and legal requirements and procedures are complied with, and all actions are fully auditable
- Hold weekly meetings with key project team members to establish subcontract requirements
- Record and keep subcontract trackers up to date
- Attend project site visits and meetings in person as may be required
- Promote safe working practices and always demonstrate safety leadership
- Participate, deliver and complete all corporate and departmental requirements as instructed from time to time
- Awareness of commercial positions imposed by Head Contracts

Expected:
- Degree or Diploma in relevant engineering courses (civil, building, mechanical, E&I or equivalent) or Quantity Surveying (QS) or Legal background
- Experience in contracting / subcontracting works, preferably within the Power, Construction, oil and gas, pharmaceutical, chemical industries. Experience with other industries will also be considered depending upon qualifications and similarity of work
- Able to interact and communicate effectively with contractors/subcontractors and stakeholders
- Local knowledge of the area and suppliers
- Able to work independently
- In depth knowledge and experience in producing bid evaluations, negotiations and terms and conditions and flow head contract terms
Desirable:
- Knowledge and experience in NEC Construction Contracts Terms and Conditions is desirable but not essential
