The Electrical SHEQ Advisor is responsible for supporting the effective delivery of Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality (SHEQ) standards across electrical engineering and infrastructure projects. The role ensures compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and statutory requirements while promoting a proactive and positive safety culture throughout all project activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide SHEQ guidance and support across electrical projects, installations, and site operations.
  • Conduct site inspections, audits, and safety assessments to ensure compliance with company procedures and industry standards.
  • Assist in the development, review, and implementation of Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS).
  • Monitor compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality policies, procedures, and legal requirements.
  • Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses, ensuring findings are documented and corrective actions are implemented.
  • Deliver toolbox talks, safety briefings, and SHEQ-related training to site personnel.
  • Support the implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of ISO management systems, including ISO 9001 – Quality Management, ISO 14001 – Environmental Management, ISO 45001 – Occupational Health & Safety Management.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers, Engineers, and Site Teams to ensure safe systems of work are established and maintained.
  • Maintain accurate SHEQ records, reports, audits, inspections, and compliance documentation.
  • Promote continuous improvement and a strong safety culture across projects and the wider business.

Qualifications

  • Essential: NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent). Relevant qualification in Health & Safety, Environmental Management, Engineering, or a related discipline.

Skills & Knowledge

  • Sound knowledge of UK health and safety legislation, particularly within construction, utilities, or electrical environments.
  • Experience conducting site inspections, audits, risk assessments, and compliance reviews.
  • Strong understanding of electrical installation safety requirements and safe working practices.
  • Ability to identify, assess, and manage SHEQ risks within construction and infrastructure projects.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with site personnel, engineers, contractors, and management.
  • Strong report writing, record-keeping, and documentation skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and SHEQ reporting systems.

Experience

  • Essential: Experience in a SHEQ, Health & Safety, or compliance-related role within electrical, construction, utilities, or infrastructure sectors. Experience supporting operational teams in maintaining compliance with SHEQ standards and procedures.
  • Desirable: Experience working on electrical infrastructure, utilities, or large-scale construction projects. Experience supporting high-voltage (HV) or major electrical installation projects. Experience working within ISO-certified management systems.
